The Bloggers of the World Medallion

4urpets passed along this nice Bloggers of the World medallion, courtesy of Colin. She and Gina were wishing they could put it in their sidebars, so since I know how to do that, I thought I’d make a little post to help them out. Anyone who already knows HTML will most likely find this post tedious; such people are encouraged to go read about Dennis’s trying to find himself a little friend instead. Or you could buy one of my books and read that. 😉

One way to get an image like this into your sidebar is to use the “Text” widget that’s available under the Presentation section of your WordPress dashboard, and then use some HTML to display the image and hyperlinks. If you like how it looks on Dennis’s Diary of Destruction, here’s the HTML from my widget to get you started.

If you aren’t familiar with HTML, that probably looks like so much gibberish, so let’s go through it bit by bit. My notes about each line are in green before the line. These notes are not part of the HTML and shouldn’t be included in your widget; however, they’re formatted as HTML comments, which means that if you do accidentally put them in the text widget they should be ignored.
