The Rooster Song

A while back, I mentioned that we (and by we I mean me) like to sing silly tunes to our animals.  Here’s an example of a little ditty with which I often serenade Tucker.  This is to the tune of “Luka” by Suzanne Vega off the album “Solitude Standing“.  That’s right, I’ve turned a wrenching song about child abuse into a song about my dog …

The Rooster Song

My name is Rooster
I walk around on the floor
I am a pretty dog
Yes I think you’ve pet me before

If I hear something late at night
Or I smell a skunk oh yeah that’s right
I will run outside and bark
I will run outside and bark
And I will wake Mommy up

You can see why I stick to writing fiction

  1. Hmmmmm. I can see the possibility of it becoming a number one hit on the Pup Charts and you could make billions of dollars! But then Suzanne Vega would want a cut.

  2. If you find you don’t have enough pieces for a full collection, you could do an anthology! “Modern Folk Animal Songs” could include some of Gina’s lullabyes, and E.g. and my roadkill songs… this could be the next Double White Album!
