Thats very nice, the parent can check in with the pup a couple of times a day and make sure the animal is doing what he/she is supposed to, have a quick friendly visit, and get on with things.
Not me, because I don’t have an employed parent, my Mom stays home, but for some of you guys that could be a good deal. It could also mess up some fun times alone at home. Take your pick!

I Skyped with my dad when he was in Hong Kong for 3 weeks last year. I think it was more for my dad’s benefit than for mine, though. His face was kind-of cold and flat — not much fun to kiss.
