Wordless Wednesday: The Shadow of an Absent Friend

absence

Rest in peace, Dennis the Vizsla Dog, you’ve earned it.
Maybe Probably 7/24/2006 – 10/31/2018

Dada’s Note: Dennis’s bounce only lasted for a little while before it became apparent that he was declining again, and that we were going to be facing more bad days than good ones going forward. We decided it was time to bring him in so that his vet could perform a final service for him. After snacking on steak, cheese, and butter-fried chicken, he crossed the Rainbow Bridge peacefully in the afternoon on Halloween, the day that would have been his brother Tucker’s 20th birthday.

Run free with Tucker and Trixie in the fields and forests and flyball tracks of the Rainbow Bridge, Dennis, until we meet again.

  2. So very sorry to read this. Saw on FB today would be the day but it’s still a shock to read the reality of it. It’s always hard to say good-bye to our friends. Dennis was loved by so many and he has joined many of his friends at the bridge. Surely some of the Funny Farmers were there to greet him, as we know Tucker was with his buffet. It’s doubly sad today would be Tucker’s 20th birthday. We know he and Trixie are missed too.

  5. We all have tears too. We knew this day was coming sooner rather than later, but we so hoped it would never come. We all loved Dennis for so many years. We know he is now running at full speed with Tucker and Beautiful Trixie and all our Angels too. Our hearts ache for you and all we can offer is soft woos and gentle hugs. Run free, Dennis, and we will try to smile through the tears with all the wonderful memories we have of you.

  30. As soon as we read The Hipster Kittens’ comment we knew Dennis had left us. We are very grateful to have know Dennis internetally, and to have shared a little of his life. He is indeed running free with all his friends, and we are pretty sure there is a constant supply of baked chocolate goods. It was serendipity that Dennis and Co came into your lives and vice versa. Goodness and love all around. Sadness now, but as time passes we will remember only the happy times. Farewell Dennis, love Lorelai Gilmore and Hedy Lamarr

  33. 😦 I actually read this when it was posted, immediately closed down the internet and cried. I’m just now commenting, altho still with tears. Dennis was the last of the puppies around from when Behr was a puppy. She’s grown up as a partner in crime with Dennis. We used to laugh at their similar patterns of shredding things and getting into all kinds of mischief. Then they grew old together. It’s that part of their lives we don’t ever believe is coming, yet it does. Their lives are way too short. We’ll miss you immensely, Dennis. Happy reunion with Tucker and Trixie! Hopefully you’ll still come back and visit us in the dogosphere.
