On The® Seventh Day Of Christmas My True Love Gave To Me A Run-In With The® Knights Who Say ‘Ni!’

Lulu: “Wait, so you Knights who say … What was that word again?”
Knight who says ‘Ni’: “Ni!”
Ninja Hedgehogs & Spearmint: “AAAAUUUUGGGHHHH!”

Lulu: “So you trademarked the® word ‘the®’ and you expect a licensing fee any time someone says that word?”
Knight who says ‘Ni’: “Yes that’s right. We also trademarked ‘herring®’ and ‘Ekki-Ekki-Ekki-Ekki-PTANG Zoom-Boing Z’nourrwringmm®’.”

Lulu: “I don’t think you’re going to see a lot of licensing fees from that last one.”
Knight who says ‘Ni’: “Yesss, neither does our attorney. That’s why we trademarked the® other two.”

Lulu: “Why didn’t you trademark ‘Ni’—”
Ninja Hedgehogs & Spearmint: “AAAAUUUUGGGHHHH!”
Lulu: “—if that’s your actual catchphrase?”
Knight who says ‘Ni’: “We couldn’t trademark that because it’s descriptive of a body part.”

Lulu: “But isn’t ‘herring®’ descriptive of a fish? Besides, the® body part isn’t spelled N-I, it’s spelled K-N-E-E.”

Knight who says ‘Ni’: “Ni! Ni! Ni!”
Ninja Hedgehogs & Spearmint: “AAAAUUUUGGGHHHH!”
Blue: “What strange behavior …”

  1. Mom explained “ni” to us. She’s old enough to have seen that movie. We don’t understand what’s goin’ on with the hedgehogs and elf, though… XOX Xena, Lucy and Chia

  2. Like the previous comments we also didn’t know the back story about the “Knight who says ‘Ni’” but surprisingly, or maybe not, the Google machine produced an entire Wikipedia page on the very subject. We were not surprised to find out it had to do with Monty Python, a movie our mom has never watched all the way through. Either way we still see the ridiculousness in your post. Thanks for the laughs!
