Orientation

Bean: “Welcome to day one of How To Be A Watchdog. Umm, Lulu, I kind of thought it was just going to be me showing you how to bark at stuff.”
Lulu: “Well I invited a few friends.”
Rhodey Ridgeback: “I would just like to point out that there are cats here.”

Bean: “Yes, there are cats present. That’s some good watchdogging. Why are you here, Charlee and Chaplin?”
Charlee: “Don’t mind us. We’re just auditing.”
Chaplin: “Yes, we don’t expect course credit. We also won’t be doing any homework or taking any exams.”
Sleepy Dog: Exams? I wouldn’t have signed up if I knew there were going to be exams.
Lulu: “Everything is more fun with friends around!”

Bean: “There aren’t going to be any exams. We might do some field trips where we go look for things to bark at, though.”
Sleepy Dog: No exams? What kind of class doesn’t have exams?
Charlee: “Question: Do we have to bark at things, or can we hiss?”
Bean: “Umm, I suppose you can hiss at thing, but barking would be preferable since that’s what dogs do.”
Lulu: “Also, everything is my friend! Even coyotes! Not gophers, though.”
Bernice Bernese: “What have you got against gophers?”
Lulu: “They disagree with me.

Bean: “Are there any other questions or concerns?”
Rhodey Ridgeback: “Yeah, I’d like to point out that there’s some kind of toothy prehistoric creature over there.”
Bean: “Yes, that’s Blue. Good watchdogging again! Blue, why are you here for watchdog class?”
Blue: “I heard that when watchdogging, if we catch the things, we get to eat the things.”
Bean: “Well that depends what the things are …”
Puppy: “Is this going to be on the test?”

  1. Well, IS there going to be a test, Java Bean? Can we monitor the class through Zoom? We’re already pretty good at this, but it never hurts to try to learn something new. Speaking of which, will treats be given? XOX Lucy, Xena and Chia
