Pooh Bear was a Persian kitty, but she didn’t have the pushed-in nose common to the breed. My wife picked her out at our local fish store (they didn’t normally sell kitties, but had taken this one to sell as a favor to another customer) because the cat was making eye contact with everyone and answering with meows whenever spoken to. We had her from shortly after we got married until we had to put her to sleep in December 2007 due to a large liver tumor and internal bleeding.
Pooh Bear went through a lot of names. The breeder called her “Spooks”, which eventually got shortened (by us) to “Pooh”, then lengthened to “Pooh Bear”. I often called her “Floyd” because she always announced her arrival, much like the robot Floyd from the old Infocom game Planetfall.
She was BEAUTIFUL!
Jim says: Thanks Gina. She was a good kitty.

Indeed, I second Gina’s remark. Fabulous! Isn’t it funny how they acquire a slew of nicknames?
I’m sorry for your loss.
